It’s that time of the year again, spring is upon us and summer is just right around the corner. Dreaming of getting away from it all, packing it all up and starting a new life? Well the beautiful town of Petralia Soprana, just a short drive outside of Palermo is offering cash incentives up to $5,000 dollars for new residents that purchase a property and remodel. With a dwindling population the city council has high hopes of attracting new residents locally and international.
Petralia Soprana has a population of around 3,000 and roughly 50-60 empty homes to fill. Applicants that submit paperwork to purchase and restore a home have till may 10th to do so to receive the $5,000 dollar incentive although I’m almost certain they will extend that timeline until they find new buyers for all of the homes up for sale. In recent years towns all across Sicily and Italy have been offering cheap real estate deals and money incentives to attract foreign investment to revamp smaller towns. I myself was attracted to the idea and purchased my Italian dream home in 2021. Honestly it was one of the smartest real estate deals I’ve made. Although I didn’t receive any incentives I was able to purchase a beautiful property at a great price. After the remodeling, I’ve definitely seen a return on investment. I didn’t even buy the property to make money off it. I purchased with the dream of living a slower pace life style and my “La Dolce Vita”. I don’t have a single complaint. Petralia Soprana could offer you the same.
