Eat,eat, eat! Sicilian steaks that will blow your mind. Mangia!

Although Sicily is known for its delicious seafood, there are also several places where you can find excellent steaks. Here are some popular restaurants in Sicily that are known for serving delicious steaks:

  1. Antica Focacceria San Francesco – Located in Palermo, this historic restaurant not only offers traditional Sicilian dishes but also serves mouthwatering steaks cooked to perfection.
  2. Ristorante Crocifisso – Situated in Taormina, this charming eatery is famous for its top-quality steaks, served with a Sicilian twist. The cozy setting adds to the overall dining experience.
  3. Trattoria Don Ciccio – Found in Catania, this family-run trattoria serves some of the best steaks in the city. The menu features a variety of cuts, cooked to your preference.
  4. Piccolo Napoli – Located in Syracuse, this restaurant is known for its extensive menu that includes delectable steaks. The attentive service and pleasant atmosphere make it an ideal place to enjoy a steak dinner.

These are just a few places I would recommend depending on the area you are located while traveling through Sicily. I’m located in southwest Sicily in-between Sciacca and Agrigento. Here are a few of my top picks local to me.

SCIALU is located in Ribera. Down an unsuspecting alley way, this place needs to be on your itinerary. I’m not joking. Hands down this place serves one of the best steaks not just in Sicily but anywhere I’ve been. I started with a steak tartare served two ways for a appetizer then proceeded to order a bone in ribeye that was fillet over a bed of arugula and topped with fresh pecorino, local cherry tomatoes and aged balsamic vinaigrette. Believe me when I tell you this steak melts in your mouth.

The quality of cuts is unmatched. Just a heads up, the portion size is enough for two. Make sure you don’t double order. After the steak my guest and I proceeded to order a pork shank followed by a carbonara pasta which they are also known for. Fall of the bone deliciousness! Their menu also includes burgers the size of your head. I’ll be back for one. Total for the bill came out to 70 euros. A few beers, waters and a coke was part of the bill. Hard to beat those prices anywhere.

My next go to restaurants for an unbelievably exquisite steak is STAGNUNI. This restaurant is top notch. Located in Cianciana, this restaurant doesn’t disappoint. The views over the countryside and out door seating around a beautiful fountain is the place to see and be seen. Service is excellent and the wine menu is great. The way to order is to pick which cut of meat you want, weight and temperature. The head butcher inside makes the cut and it literally goes straight on the grill. No frills here, just damn good food.

My friend and I started with a charcuterie board fit for a king and a bottle of wine. All items including the wine local to Sicily of course. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Then we ordered a three pound Tomahawk steak. Did we go overboard? Absolutely, because we also order a one pound ribeye as well. As soon as the food arrived I knew our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. You only live once right? I had steak and eggs the next few days for breakfast with all the left overs. Once again bravo and compliments to the butch. A stellar meal and a worthy night of remembrance. Total bill came out to 94 euros in total for everything. If I were to order the same meal in the states the bill would have been 400 dollars easily. Maybe more.

I just want to reiterate how affordable Sicily is without breaking the bank or budget. To be honest, 94 euros is actually kinda pricy for two people in Sicily but we went all out on the Tomahawk steak. To me it was a steal worthy of the order because we could have fed six people off this dinner. Cheers to more life and Sicily!
