A vast majority of northern Italians head to Sicily for holidays to unwind and enjoy their summers. A long kept secret, ask someone in Rome or Venice where one can find the best food in Italy. A majority of them will tell you Sicily right away. It’s no secret Sicily has some of the best Agricultural. The slopes and hills of Mt.Etna are bountiful with organic farms and vineyards producing some of the finest wines and mouth watering produce. AllThingsSicily was also created to give you more insight into the Italian real estate market. A long standing reciprocal law between the United States and Italy has made it extremely easy for Americans to purchase their dream home or retirement property with no red tape.

About me

Ciao! Mi chiamo Spencer. A Chicago native born and raised. I grew up a travel baby and my parents would take me everywhere with them. I think I had the travel bug at a very early age. Not a bad thing if you ask me. I grew up working for a family business which was ok but not what I wanted for myself. I needed more out of life, I’m sure many of you feel the same. At 26, while on vacation visiting St.Croix in the U.S Virgin Islands, I had the idea to look at apartments to rent and it so happened that a friend of a friend was looking for someone to house sit. Boom!! I got the house sitting gig and I dropped everything in Chicago and moved south, really south. I started living the dream. Picked up a bartending job, got settled in playing the role of Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Golf, scuba diving, hiking and sunbathing was on the agenda every week, life was great. I ended up purchasing property for a future homesite, got in business with Scott Bryan(owner of Flyers Bar & Grill) which is still open to this day. Make sure you stop by and eat there. Best food on St.Croix. I also opened a small bar out on the south shore of the island called Area 51.

Then came hurricane Irma and Maria in September 2017. Two category 5 hurricanes back to back in one week. The storms really turned my life upside down. By this time I was already raising two kids. The public school system was wiped out and unfortunately it was time to relocate back to the states. A few years passed on and I ended up selling my property and decided to take a look at Italy for a new adventure. I had traveled to Italy a handful of times prior. Between the food, wine, history, art, amazing people and low housing prices, Italy was starting to look like a win win. I Decided I really liked the idea of Sicily as I narrowed down my search. I still needed the warm weather and beaches after being spoiled form living in the Caribbean. Little did I know that Sicily was going to be everything I needed and so much more. Made an offer on a house and Boom!! Living the dream again. As a great friend once told me “Today is the best day since yesterday” – Andrew Hyatt
